"Corporations should look to the city of Helios when seeking new business opportunities or a new location. Even in the recent recession, Helios's unemployment rate was lower than the regional average. It is the industrial center of the region, and historically it has provided more than its share of the region's manufacturing jobs. In addition, Helios is attempting to expand its economic base by attracting companies that focus on research and development of innovative technologies."

The aforementioned argument in asserting that corporations should look at the city of Helios for new business opportunities, appears at first glance to be a fairly simple and convincing argument. However, upon further examination of the argument and its underlying structure, a number of faults become evident to such an extent that one can take neither the argument nor its conclusions seriously. The most pivotal shortcoming of the argument is its inability to address - or even acknowledge - its assumptions and its negligence of information necessary to substantiate its claim. In this argument the author concludes that the city of Helios should be a preferable place for corporations to seek new business opportunities or house their facilities . The coclusion is based on three facts: (1) In the recent recession Helios\'s unemployment rate was lower than the regional average. The author of the article praises Helios city and its workers by implicitly implying that they are being favoured in manufacturing jobs over other cities in the same region. He tries to support his claims by trends that show the lower unemployment rates compared to other cities in the region during a recent recession period, though he does not provide more data about unemployment before or after this recession. Then he mentions that Helios is attempting to attract companies that are focues on research and development, despite his previous statement about the inclination of the Helios city workers to manufaturing jobs.
