Topic 883: The following appeared in a memorandum to faculty from the academic vice president of Waymarsh University. "So that we can better accomplish Waymarsh University's academic goals, we should adopt the job-opportunity (job-op) program offered at Plateau Technical College and strongly encourage all students at Waymarsh to participate in it. The success of the job-op program at Plateau is evident: Over the past two years, more than 75% of the freshmen at Plateau have enrolled in the optional job-op program. Moreover, at Plateau, the grades of job-op students are consistently higher than those of other students, 90% of the job-op students receive job offers within a month after their graduation, and most former job-op students report much success in their careers. " Discuss how well reasoned you find this argument.

The above quote clearly signifies the importance of analysis. We should not be subjective and only go upon stated facts ,but must check through the knowledge of the person before coming to a conclusion. In the above article it clearly states that freshmen who\'ve opted for job-op have a higher intelligence quotient. However, this may not even be close to correct as it doesn\'t evaluate the people who do not want to work out but rather spend more time in research at the college.Research requires much more intelligence and hence it is overstated that the latter are insignificant. Although this may sound like a valid argument, there are many flaws which weaken the argument. Read more... - 111111... by clyde630
The argument seems, for the first glance, logical and reasonable. However, further analysis reveals that it contains a few flaws and deficiencies. By citing the success of the job-opportunity (job-op) at Plateau, the arguer advocate that the Waymarsh University should adopt the job-op program and strongly encouraged all students at Waymarsh to participate in it so that they can better accomplish Waymarsh University’s academic goals and therefore this memo seems to be well reasoned and justifiable. The arguer draws a conclusion that Waymarsh University (WU) should adopt the job-op program to accomplish their academic goals. To support the suggestion the writer mention the success at Plateau in the past two years, showing us that their students joining the job-op program get higher scores and most graduates find their jobs within a month. And to further the argument most former job-op students\' more success is placed emphasis on by the arguer. The suggestion appears convincing at the first glance; however, it can hardly bear any further consideration since it suffers from some logical fallacies. Read more... - analysis... by priyanka
While the argument suggests that Plateau Technical University (PTU) offers good courses for its students, it fails to give much information regarding the Waymarsh University (WU). Hence i do not completely agree with what the argument states.
